Alexander Lukashenko has submitted his documents for registration as a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections in Belarus, reports IA "NewTimes.kz".
The current leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has filed his documents for registration as a candidate in the forthcoming presidential elections, according to the press service of the Central Election Commission of the country.
As per the information from the press service of the Central Election Commission, the documents on behalf of Lukashenko were submitted on Tuesday by Yuri Senko, the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, acting on the basis of a power of attorney.
Lukashenko has become the last contender to submit documents for registration with the CEC. Previously, the Central Election Commission received registration documents from Anna Kanopatskaya, Oleg Gaidukevich, Alexander Khizhnyak, and Sergey Syryankov.

The next presidential elections in Belarus are scheduled for January 26, 2025.
Alexander Lukashenko has been the president of Belarus since 1994.
