On December 10, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Aktobe region for a working visit, reports IA "NewTimes.kz".
The trip began with a visit to the "Bolashak" mine in Kromtau, which is one of the largest investment projects of the Eurasian Resources Group (ERG). With a design capacity of 7.5 million tons of chrome ore per year, the mine has already attracted over 1 trillion tenge in investments and will create 1,800 jobs. As noted by ERG Chairman Shukhrat Ibragimov, the company is developing two deposits – "Millionnoye" and "Almaz-Zhemchuzhina," utilizing advanced technologies. The mine employs intelligent drilling rigs, remote control systems, and fully automated hoisting machines. Tokayev emphasized the significance of the mine's launch for Kazakhstan's mining industry, calling this event historic.
Next, the head of state visited the Kromtau Mining and Technical College, which was established in 1979 and is a key institution for training specialists in the mining sector in western Kazakhstan. Today, the college trains 1,157 students in various specialties, including miners, concentrators, and electromechanics. The president was informed about the dual education system that combines theoretical knowledge with practical training. The college features a training mine site and simulators that help students master complex equipment.
After touring the college, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with students and alumni. He praised the implementation of the dual education system and highlighted the importance of the mining sector for the country's economic development. The president reminded that 2024 has been declared the Year of Working Professions, which, according to him, will be an important step in supporting domestic industry and preparing qualified personnel.
Tokayev's last working visit to the region was a year ago, in December 2023. At that time, the president reviewed the state of economic development in the region, ongoing investment projects, and visited several socio-cultural facilities.
