Deputy of the Mazhilis, Anas Bakkodzhaev, made headlines again during the discussion of the bill concerning responsible treatment of animals, reports correspondent of IA “NewTimes.kz”.
During the discussion of amendments at the working group meeting, public activists urged the deputies to consider that sterilization and castration are more humane than euthanasia for stray animals. Moreover, according to veterinarians, these methods can even extend an animal's life.
However, Anas Bakkodzhaev strongly disagreed with this perspective.
“Why do men age? Because after some time, around 50-60 years, our hormonal activity decreases, which is why we age. And there is no question of extending life here at all. Castration, especially of males, does not affect lifespan in any way,” the deputy is convinced.
Furthermore, he compared the castration of animals to that of humans.
“When we surgically place a healthy animal on the table and then remove something, that animal is already disabled. And this is inhumane treatment. If I am deprived of something, if one of my testicles is removed, God forbid, it’s uncomfortable to say, but I have to, I do not consider myself a healthy person. I am disabled. And to deem this a humane method is incorrect,” stated Anas Bakkodzhaev.
He believes that this will not reduce the aggression of stray animals in general, as they have various needs.
“Because there is food aggression; the dog wants to eat,” he added.
This is not the deputy's only controversial statement. Earlier, he claimed that “the main goal of any biological being is to reproduce.”
“I also want to reproduce; everyone wants to reproduce,” Bakkodzhaev said.
