The Investigative Committee of Russia has reported the arrest of a 1995-born citizen of Uzbekistan, who is suspected of carrying out a terrorist attack that resulted in the deaths of the head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, General Igor Kirillov, and his assistant, Ilya Polikarpov, as reported by IA "NewTimes.kz".

The Investigative Committee of Russia has announced the detention of a 1995-born citizen of Uzbekistan, suspected of perpetrating a terrorist act that claimed the lives of General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and his assistant, Ilya Polikarpov.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the arrest was carried out by officers of the Main Investigative Directorate in collaboration with the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The suspect has been taken to the investigator, where he confessed to the crime.

“During the interrogation, he explained that he had been recruited by Ukrainian special services. At their direction, he arrived in Moscow and received an improvised explosive device. He placed it on an electric scooter, which he parked near the entrance of the residential building where Igor Kirillov lived. To monitor the military officer's residence, he rented a car from a car-sharing service, where he installed a surveillance camera. The footage from this camera was streamed live to the organizers of the terrorist act in the city of Dnipro. After receiving a video signal indicating that the military personnel had exited the building, the explosive device was remotely detonated by him,” the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported.

For carrying out the crime, he was promised a monetary reward of 100 thousand US dollars, as well as assistance in relocating to one of the European countries.

The investigation continues to work on identifying other individuals involved in the organization of the terrorist act.

It should be noted that on December 17, in Moscow, as a result of the explosion, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Russia, and his assistant Ilya Polikarpov were killed.
