The Tbilisi City Hall has begun the installation of a large Christmas tree outside the parliament building. This move by the authorities has disrupted the plans of the opposition, which had been gathering at this location daily, reports IA "NewTimes.kz," citing MTRK "MIR 24."
Setting up the tree at the parliament is an annual tradition. Currently, the work is in full swing. The structure features an artificial base with natural branches, and its height is comparable to that of the parliament building. The tree's base occupies almost the entire area that protesters typically used for their demonstrations.
Opposition activists have expressed their dissatisfaction with this action. On Saturday, they gathered outside the parliament building, banging on a three-meter aluminum fence that had been erected earlier. At present, protesters are assembling in small groups nearby. The tree installation is being monitored by the police.
As a reminder, the opposition rally began outside the parliament in Georgia. Thousands of people gathered for a protest in front of the parliament in central Tbilisi to contest the results of the parliamentary elections held on October 26.
