Over 1,200 units of specialized equipment are clearing snow in Astana at night, reports IA "NewTimes.kz" citing the press service of the Astana akimat.

Snow removal is ongoing without interruption. On December 21, municipal services removed over 34,000 cubic meters of snow from the capital with 2,833 trips. During the night shift from December 21 to 22, 343 road workers and 1,264 units of specialized equipment were involved in snow removal operations. Since the beginning of the winter season, nearly 1.3 million cubic meters of snow have been removed from the city in 102,654 trips.

“According to the rules, priority is given to clearing areas with very high traffic to prevent congestion on the roads. Areas with medium traffic intensity are also cleared of snow — squares, train station territories, sidewalks, and access roads to social facilities, etc. The focus is on cleaning central streets, passenger transport routes, bus stops, and sidewalks,” the akimat explained.

As specified by the agency, several equipped snow disposal sites are operational in the capital. They are fitted with a license plate recognition system for dump trucks, equipped with surveillance cameras, and have lighting installed.
