Drug couriers were apprehended by the officers of the Karaganda region. Residents of the Zhambyl region were transporting 13 bags of dried marijuana in their vehicle, reports IA “NewTimes.kz”.
On the highway “Karaganda – Astana,” police in the Karaganda region seized a large batch of marijuana. They stopped an Audi A6, driven by a 38-year-old resident of the Zhambyl region. Also in the car was his peer — a passenger living in the same area. During the vehicle inspection, officers discovered and seized 13 bags containing a plant-based substance on the back seat and in the trunk. According to the expert conclusion, the seized substance turned out to be dried marijuana weighing over 266 kilograms in total.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident. In coordination with the prosecutor's office, a measure of restraint in the form of detention has been chosen for the apprehended individuals.
The police reported that since the beginning of the year, 446 kilograms of various narcotic substances have been confiscated from illegal circulation, including over 100 kilograms of hashish, more than 180 kilograms of marijuana, and 12 kilograms of synthetic drugs. In connection with crimes related to the illegal drug trade, over 130 individuals have been detained, including, unfortunately, 11 minors and 12 women.
Previously, the activities of two drug laboratories were disrupted in Kazakhstan. These were located in the Kostanay region and the Zhetysu region. All suspects have been taken into custody, and an investigation is underway.
