As of December 20, the sugar factories in Kazakhstan have processed 988.6 thousand tons of root crops: "Aksu Kant" – 351.7 thousand tons (including 39.3 thousand tons from the Zhambyl region), Koksu Sugar Factory – 252.6 thousand tons, and Merken Sugar Factory – 384.3 thousand tons. The remaining harvest is in the farmers' storage awaiting processing.
"Half of the beet harvest, 640 thousand tons, came from the Zhambyl region, where only the Merken Sugar Factory processes sugar beets. Based on current capacities, it can process 450 thousand tons, while the Aksu factory in the Zhetysu region can handle 100 thousand tons," reports the government press service.
Moreover, farmers will receive subsidies regardless of which factory the beets were delivered to, with funds coming from both the akimats and the sugar factories.
