Astana. December 17. KAZAKHSTAN TODAY - The Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Almasadam Satkaliyev, explained the decrease in oil production levels in the country during a government meeting, reports the agency's correspondent.
The reduction in production compared to last year was influenced by major repairs at large fields in 2024: at Tengiz, repairs lasting a total of 50 days were conducted in May and August in connection with the planned launch of the future expansion project, while at Kashagan, maintenance involving the replacement of a slug catcher was carried out with a complete shutdown for 21 days," the minister informed.
He also noted that unscheduled shutdowns at the Karachaganak field and restrictions on gas intake at the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant, as well as scheduled preventive maintenance at the CPC, and repair work at the second-generation plant at Tengiz due to internal steam leakage in the technological flow, contributed to the decrease in production.
In this regard, oil production is expected to total 87.8 million tons by the end of 2024. The shortfall in production targets has impacted oil exports," stated Almasadam Satkaliyev.
Specifically, during the reporting period, 63.2 million tons of oil were exported, which is 98.3% of the same period last year.
The volume of oil and condensate production amounted to 80.5 million tons, or 98% of the same period last year, including that from major companies in the oil and gas sector. At Tengiz, 25.9 million tons of oil were produced during the specified period, representing 97.9% of the same period last year. The production volume at Kashagan reached 15.8 million tons, or 92.8% of the same period last year. The Karachaganak project produced 11.1 million tons, or 100.9% of the same period last year," the minister added.
It should be noted that in Kazakhstan, oil production has decreased in 2024.
