Astana. December 18. KAZAKHSTAN TODAY - Kazakhstan plans to launch a factory for processing olives and producing olive oil, reports the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
LLP "QVM Technology" aims to start the olive processing and olive oil production plant by 2030," the agency informed.
According to the press service, an agreement for the experimental planting of olive tree seedlings was signed in 2023 in the Zhetysu, Turkestan, and Mangystau regions.
The first 6,080 seedlings have been planted. Preliminary data shows that 99.7% of the seedlings demonstrated a good survival rate. The harvest is expected to be gathered in five years. In spring 2024, seedlings from Spain and Turkey were planted. By the end of 2025, Kazakhstani companies plan to plant olive tree seedlings over an area of 1,000 hectares," the ministry reported.
It is also emphasized that the project includes scientific support: under the guidance of Professor Pablo Morello from the University of Córdoba in Spain, soil collection and analysis, as well as climate and meteorological data, will be conducted.
It was previously reported that a factory for producing dairy products will be launched in the Kostanay region.
