Astana. December 19. KAZAKHSTAN TODAY - In Kazakhstan, oil production for the first 11 months of 2024 amounted to 80.5 million tons, which is 1.8 million tons below the planned target, reports the press service of the country's Prime Minister.
From January to November 2024, the volume of oil processing in Kazakhstan reached 16.7 million tons, which is 102% of the plan. It is expected that by the end of 2024, the oil processing volume will increase to 17.9 million tons, representing a 1.1% increase compared to 2023. The production of petroleum products from January to November 2024 was 13.1 million tons, or 100% of the planned figure," the press service informed.
It is noted that the development of the oil refining sector in the country is supported by the approval of the concept for 2024-2040, highlighting the strategic importance of this sector for Kazakhstan's economic growth.
Earlier, Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev explained during a government meeting the reasons for the decline in oil production in the country. According to him, the decrease in production levels compared to last year was influenced by the capital repairs conducted at major fields in 2024.
Additionally, he noted that unplanned shutdowns at the Karachaganak field and restrictions on gas intake at the Orenburg gas processing plant, as well as scheduled maintenance work at the CPC and repairs at the second-generation plant at the Tengiz field due to internal steam leaks in the technological flow, also affected the reduction in production.
