Beijing, December 13. KAZAKHSTAN TODAY - In Beijing, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Almasadam Satkaliyev, met with the head of the National Energy Administration of China, H. Wang, and the Deputy Chairman of the China Atomic Energy Agency, C. Liu, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
The parties discussed cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy, oil and gas, electric power, and renewable energy sources. Additionally, the Chinese side expressed a high level of readiness to support Kazakhstan in the implementation of the nuclear power plant construction project," the statement said.
Satkaliyev also held talks with a potential supplier of nuclear technology, who made it to the "short list," the General Director of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), Y. Shen.
The delegation also visited the under-construction "Zhangzhou" nuclear power plant with an HPR-1000 reactor; the production facilities of the nuclear energy corporation Shanghai Electric, and the uranium conversion and enrichment plant located in central China.
It is worth noting that on October 6, 2024, a national referendum took place where the majority of citizens supported the idea of constructing a nuclear power plant.
