An electronic queue system will be implemented at the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan border.

Astana. December 9. KAZAKHSTAN TODAY - The Minister of Finance has made amendments to the rules for the passage of motor vehicles, cargo, and goods across the state border of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Now, the necessary procedures can be carried out using a paid electronic queue system.

The electronic queue is set to be introduced:

  • In the Zhambyl region, at the border crossing points of Aisha-Bibi, Auhatty, Karasu, Korday, Sartobe, and Syptai Batyr;
  • In the Almaty region, at the Kegen border crossing point.

The aim of the project is to expand the electronic queue system at the vehicle border crossings with the Kyrgyz Republic," the draft document states.

The explanatory note to the document clarifies that the amendment was made as part of the implementation of the protocol from the meeting on cargo delivery issues from China.

The corresponding draft order has been published on the "Open NPA" portal for public discussion until December 23, 2024.

Recall that in July, a traffic jam of 200 trucks formed at the border between Kazakhstan and Russia in the West Kazakhstan region. According to the State Revenue Committee, the main reason for the congestion was the slowdown of border control processes by the Russian side. That same month, a traffic jam also occurred at the border with Kyrgyzstan, where the accumulation of vehicles was attributed to road repairs in the border area.

Last Friday, at the EAEU conference, participants in the panel discussion dedicated to the development of the transport framework in Central Asia noted that one of the most serious problems is the traffic jams at the borders.

There are no valid reasons for drivers to be stuck at the borders for hours, days, and sometimes even whole weeks," stated Vadim Zakarenko, head of the permanent representation of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) in Eurasia.
